– €16.6million provided for Sports Equipment under the Sports Capital & Equipment Programme;

– Sports Equipment funding of €474,761 allocated to 34 organisations around County Mayo;

– Mayo allocation is EQUIPMENT ONLY as part of Sports Capital & Equipment Programme.

Fine Gael Spokesperson for Tourism and Sport, Alan Dillon TD, has welcomed funding of €474,761 under the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme.  This funding allocation is only for sports equipment in the first round of sports capital allocations.  34 organisations will benefit from this funding around County Mayo.

Deputy Dillon said: “It is great to see 34 organisations around Mayo receiving funding of €474,761 for sports equipment.  The funding granted ranges from €896 up to over €37,000 so it represents a significant investment in the sporting equipment around Mayo.  I am delighted to see this equipment funding has a good geographic spread around the county and being allocated to a strong mix of sports.  I will be working to ensure the funding can be drawn down as quickly as possible so local communities around Mayo can benefit from this funding in the near future.”
