– Minister Humphreys announces successful projects under 2021 Community Enhancement Programme;

– Community Enhancement Programme funding of €145,203 allocated for Mayo;

– Funding to benefit a total of 83 local projects around Mayo.

Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Alan Dillon, has welcomed confirmation from Rural and Community Development Minister, Heather Humphreys TD, of funding for Mayo under the Community Enhancement Programme 2021.  Community Enhancement Programme funding of €145,203 has been allocated to a total of 83 local projects around Mayo.

The 2021 Community Enhancement Programme was launched in May 2021 to provide small grants to local community groups across the country. Mayo received an allocation of €145,203 from the Department of Rural and Community Development under the programme.  The key theme of this year’s programme was supporting groups as they re-open facilities that have been closed due to COVID-19.  These could include facilities such as community centres, men’s and women’s sheds, parish halls and youth centres.

Deputy Dillon said: “It is great to 83 organisations around Mayo receiving a small grant to benefit their communities as they re-open or recommence their work.  I wish to commend the Local Community Development Committee and the Community and Integrated Development team in Mayo County Council who administer the Community Enhancement Programme in the county.  Their work has ensured a wide range of organisations across the county have access to funding to help recommence their activities as society reopens.”
