30 Mar Sport Ireland Funding Boost for Mayo Swimming Pool Operators

Mayo TD Alan Dillon has welcomed  €166,913 funding by Sport Ireland and Ireland Active for swimming pool operators within Mayo who provide a vital resource for schools, clubs and communities across the country, and it is important that this infrastructure is maintained going forward.

Deputy Dillon said “this funding will help swimming pool operators continue to provide safe and essential service which is vital to sustain swimming and maintain high physical activity levels. The recognition of Government around the operational and financial difficulties, with the high rising energy costs of maintaining swimming pools. This funding will provide some much-needed financial assistance to the private swimming pool operators give organisations the confidence to continue trading through these difficult times

Today’s investment is part of a €3.2 million funding package for swimming pool operators across the country announced by Minister of State for Sport and Gaeltacht Affairs, Jack Chambers TD,

Deputy Dillon concluded: “Swimming Pool operators have demonstrated their resilience throughout the Covid pandemic. It is important that this resilience continues into the months ahead. The funding announced today will assist swimming pool operators in getting everyone active and keeping them active. This has never been more important and is essential for our physical and mental wellbeing.”
