06 Nov 16 successful Mayo applicants of €4m. night-time economy support scheme

Fine Gael TD for Mayo, Deputy Alan Dillon has welcomed the announced of the successful applicants of the €4 million in funding to assist off-peak entertainment in towns and cities. A total of 433 organisations have been offered funding from the Night-Time Economy Support Scheme.

Applications were received from a wide range of venues including pubs, nightclubs, cafés, theatres, arts centres, galleries, museums and retail outlets.

Deputy Dillon said , “ I am delighted for the Sixteen Mayo business who have benefited from the scheme.

The Acres, Killala, Cosy Joes, Westport, The Porter House, Westport, The Irish House Bar, Castlebar, Cupán Ceoil, Ballina, Tertulia, a Bookshop Like No Other, Westport, Belleek Castle, Ballina, Tarbh 47, Ballina, Time Square Late Night Venue, Ballina, Balla CRD, Castle Late Night Venue, Westport, Great National Hotel, Ballina, The Yoga Root, Westport, An Bolg Bui, Ballina, An File, Westport, and The Mariner, Westport.

There was a high level of interest in this pilot scheme, with over 470 creative and diverse applications submitted for consideration, reflecting the willingness of the night-time economy sector to be innovative and creative in their offerings.

Well in excess of 2000 events in every county across the country, have been approved for funding, they include live music, ranging from traditional music to electronic music, DJ nights, theatre, comedy, dance, literature, art and photographic exhibitions.

Cafés and unlicensed premises have been awarded over €434,000 in funding.

Deputy Dillon said “Pubs, nightclubs, cafés and other suitable licensed and unlicensed premises were invited to apply for this funding, This Scheme offers an opportunity for businesses and artists to work together to try something new and see what works for them and for their customers, I wish the successful applicants the very best of luck”
