27 Jul €378,220 in funding has been allocated to 203 local projects in Mayo under the 2022 Community Support Fund.

• Small grants to benefit community groups across Mayo

Mayo Deputy Alan Dillon says the main aim of this fund is to support groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, with their energy bills, as well as with improvements to their facilities.

“It constitutes a singular financial allocation originating from the Department of Rural and Community Development and managed by Local Community Development Committees, with assistance from the Local Authority, in various regions.  “Our Rural Future,” reflects the Government’s commitment to endorse grassroots projects led by local communities in Mayo and nationwide. The primary objective of this funding is to provide support for local groups and clubs, particularly in managing their energy expenses and other operational costs. Although these grants may appear modest in scale, they hold the potential to make a substantial impact by enabling local community organisations to undertake crucial projects within their respective areas.”
