12 May Investment of €2.6m. confirmed for new Castlebar Regional Training Centre
Fine Gael TD Alan Dillon welcomed the funding of €2 million, which is being provided by Department of Transport while Mayo County Council has been granted approval to borrow €650,000 towards the remaining cost.
The existing Regional Training Centre at Aras an Chontae in the town, in place for over 20 years, facilitates the training needs of staff in local authorities (Mayo, Galway, Roscommon, Longford, Leitrim County Councils and Galway City Council), group water schemes, utilities and numerous other public and private companies in the west and Midlands of the country with Mayo County Council as the lead authority.
Deputy Alan Dillon said , ” I have worked alongside Minister of State for Transport, Hildegarde Naughton to secure this funding.
“I welcome the development of the dedicated outdoor training facility in Castlebar that includes a capped contribution of €2 million towards the design and construction of the facility, which will allow the delivery of high-quality training ” Said Deputy Dillon.
“I want to compliment the staff of the Regional Training Centre for the excellent work they carry out, and this new centre will enhance the outstanding work and service they provide” Concluded Deputy Dillon.
