Over €1.6m in Community Recognition Funding for Mayo

 

Minister of State Alan Dillon TD has welcomed the latest round of funding under the Community Recognition Fund, which will see over €1.5 million allocated to local projects across Mayo. This significant investment will enhance community facilities, improve recreational spaces, and support local sports clubs.

 

The funding, allocated through the Department of Rural and Community Development, was overseen by Minister Dara Calleary, whom Minister Dillon acknowledged for his role in supporting these allocations.

 

“This is a fantastic investment in our communities,” said Minister Dillon. “I have championed these projects and worked alongside many local groups, sporting clubs, and community organizations to help secure this much-needed funding. These allocations will make a real difference to people’s lives, ensuring that facilities are modernized, upgraded, and fit for purpose.”

  • Achill, Keel – Tennis Courts Refurbishment – €99,000
  • Balla Secondary School – Changing Rooms Upgrade – €50,000
  • Ballyhaunis Courthouse & Gallery – Community Artspace – €155,000
  • Ballycastle – Resource Centre Retrofit – €54,000
  • Claremorris Handball Club – Facility Upgrade – €50,000
  • Westport GAA – Astro Pitch Resurfacing – €64,000
  • Castlebar Celtic FC – Lights Upgrade – €55,475
  • Castlebar Town FC – Facility upgrades – €53,892
  • Claremorris Swimming Pool – Air Conditioning Unit Replacement – €104,000
  • Ballina Stephenites GAA Club – Club Refurbishment & Portable Lights – €54,570
  • Breaffy GAA – Energy & Sustainability Works – €50,000

  • Castlebar Lough Lannagh Playground Upgrade – Mayo County Council – €100,000
  • Killala Community Council – Playground Refurbishment – €54,000
  • Castlebar Community Playground – €55,000

 

Cultural & Infrastructure Developments

  • Ballina Convent – Windows Upgrade – €54,000
  • Castlebar – Horror in the Barracks Stage & Marquee – €60,000
  •               Ballina St. Muredachs Cathedral- Stain Glass Window €54,570

 

Christmas Lighting Projects

  • Castlebar Chamber – Christmas Lights Upgrade – €80,000
  • Westport Chamber – Christmas Lights – €50,000

 

Minister Dillon emphasised the importance of investing in local infrastructure and community projects.

 

“These grants will ensure that our towns and villages have the facilities they deserve, whether it’s upgrading sports facilities, improving community spaces, or enhancing public amenities. I want to congratulate all the successful applicants and look forward to seeing these projects come to life.”

 

Minister Dillon also thanked local organisations, volunteers, and stakeholders who played a key role in securing these funds.
