Dillon raises Turlough broadband and mobile reception issues with Communications Minister

Fine Gael General Election candidate for Mayo, Alan Dillon, has facilitated a visit between Turlough Community Development Association with the Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment, Richard Bruton, TD.  The meeting allowed local residents to highlight the broadband and mobile reception issues in the Turlough area and following which, Minister Bruton has undertaken to prioritise the issue.

Mr. Dillon said:

“It was an excellent opportunity for the Communications Minister to visit a rural location where the benefits of the National Broadband Plan will add to the recently completed Phase One of Turlough’s village enhancement project.  Local residents had the opportunity to outline the difficulties faced regarding the broadband and mobile connectivity in the village and surrounding areas.”

Mr. Dillon added:

“Minister Bruton listened very carefully to the issues being experienced by local residents and has committed to examining how telecom connectivity can be further improved in the area.  The key issues appears to relate to the distance involved between local properties and the junction box which services much of the Turlough area. I am hopeful that a technical solution can be developed to improve the telecom services for local residents and will continue to work with Minister Bruton and telecom providers to resolve the matter.”
